AIMS

1. To create a forum for agencies and service providers working in the field of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in Victoria. Agencies shall be understood to include any institution, association or group providing service in the field of ABI such as treatment, rehabilitation, case management, community support, accommodation, recreation, employment, referral, information, education or research.

2. To promote the needs of people with ABI, and their carers, through consideration of needs on a statewide basis.

3. To promote planning, development, evaluation, research and education in the ABI field.

4. To promote the development of improved services and facilities for people with ABI and their carers.

5. To initiate discussion and provide advice to Governments, and other funding and policy bodies, regarding issues affecting persons with ABI and development of services to meet identified needs.

6. To establish linkages with peak disability bodies to ensure that the needs of people with ABI and their carers are adequately represented on, and presented to, these bodies.

Structure - How VCASP Works

§ The Executive is elected from organisational members at the Annual General Meeting, and must represent both metropolitan and rural ABI service providers.

§ Regional ABI Networks are convened within the regions and aim to actively involve generic service providers and DHS regional office representatives.

§ Each executive member holds a portfolio responsible for day to day liaison with each regional ABI Network.
